Some Ideas On
Which
Inbound And Outbound Links To Track With An Ad Tracking Software Program

In
my previous article about ad trackers I
explained how they can be used to track inbound and outbound links and
improve
the performance of your online ads.
In this
article, I’ll give you some more ideas
about which links to track. After you read this information, you will
see just
how handy an ad tracking software can be, and there will be many more
possible
uses of a full tracking program.
Okay, so lets
get into the meat here. I have
provided an alphabetical list of some of the places where you might
consider
replacing your regular URL links with ad tracker links.
Affiliate links
and product links on your blog
or website – you want to monitor which links get the most
attention.
Article
directories - replace your
signature/resource links with tracking links to find out which of your
articles
on different directories attract most of the attention.
Banner
advertising – you want to see which
banners are more popular on which sites or web pages.
Blog comments -
see which blog comments you post
attract the most interest. You could either assign one tracking link to
every
link you place on a blog, or you could create a new tracking link for
each
comment. Either one is fine.
Classified
advertising – make sure to split test
your classified ads to find out which ad sites are most responsive and
which
ads are most popular. This will allow you to weed out the winners from
the
losers.
E-books
– It’s wise to embed tracking links in
the body of your e-book. These will be long-term links, so you will
want to
keep them pointed to active websites by redirecting them in your ad
tracking
software control panel whenever you change your website URL.
E-mail
signature files - find out which
signature ads attract the most response in your emails that you send
out. These
could be personal or business related emails.
E-newsletter
links - check the response rate of
your newsletter subscribers. Test similar ads in different newsletters
and
compare different ads in each newsletter.
Forum links -
use a tracking link in your forum
signature file and also in the main body of your forum posts whenever
you have
a good reason to include a link.
Online auctions
- direct people to your online
auctions using tracking links and find out which of your products get
the most
attention.
Pop-up ads
– you can measure the responsiveness
to these with tracking links. Pop-up ads can be very effective.
PPC ads - using
tracking links will allow you to
check your stats but you can also test the responsiveness of different
pages
via your ad tracker control panel.
Reciprocal
links - see how well your links are
doing on third-party sites (and monitor them to make sure they are not
quietly
removed).
Traffic
exchanges - find out which splash pages
attract most click-throughs. Most traffic exchanges can also track the
number
of clicks your ads get. Using an ad tracking software can provide more
detailed
information, though.
As you now
realize, ad trackers are very
versatile tools that give your internet business eyes to see what is
happening
with your ads and why. When it comes to choosing important tools for
your
internet business, an ad tracking software is right up there with web
hosting
for your website and autoresponders. These are the three essential
tools of any
successful internet marketing business.
By using these
resources and posting to them on
a regular basis, you will be able to cover your basic internet business
start-up costs, while also getting your name and profile out on the web.
I
wish you the best of success,
